Miralem Pjanic has insisted that he is not thinking about a move from Roma to Liverpool this summer.
The Bosnia and Herzegovina international has recently emerged as a target for the Reds, with Steven Gerrard due to leave Anfield at the end of the season to see out his career with MLS giants LA Galaxy.
Reports have claimed that Brendan Rodgers is keen on the 24-year-old as he plans for life without the Merseyside idol, with Pjanic having emerged as one of Serie A’s top playmakers in recent seasons.
Roma are thought to be holding out for £37m for their star, but Liverpool value him at closer to the £20m mark as they plot their business for the next transfer window.
However, Pjanic says that he is focused solely on helping Roma and that a switch is not on his mind:
“It’s not time to talk about a transfer, but there has been no contact [with Liverpool].” He is quoted by The Metro.
“I am only focused on Roma.”
Pjanic is thought to have major concerns regarding Liverpool’s Champions League status for next season, with the club currently outside of the top four.
