After Steven Gerrard was appointed the new Rangers manager, it was only going to be a matter of time before the Scottish outfit were linked to Liverpool players.

The former midfielder has stepped into management for the first time, and it appears that he is looking at his boyhood club for some help.

Before taking on the job at Ibrox, Gerrard learned the ropes as Under-18s boss at Anfield.

Now, reports have indicated that he wants to take some of the youth talent with him to Scotland.

According to the Daily Record, Rangers are closing in on the signature of Ovie Ejaria, who is expected to join on loan from Liverpool.

The midfielder has been at the Merseyside outfit since 2014 when he moved from Arsenal's academy.

The 20-year-old made 11 Championship appearances during a short loan stint at Sunderland last season.

The publication also claims that Dominic Solanke, whose first-team opportunities under Jurgen Klopp have been limited, is another loan option for Gerrard.

Liverpool fans have posted mixed opinions on the transfer rumours via social media.
