Liverpool have made a shock loan bid for Burnley centre-back James Tarkowski, according to The Sun.

Reds fans, though, appear mixed on the potential signing, with Burnley reportedly holding out for a massive transfer fee of around £50million.

Of course, manager Jurgen Klopp is currently facing a serious injury problem in defence, with Virgil van Dijk the only fit centre-back available to the Reds boss.

That has left the German tactician with a dilemma; he can either promote from within, or deploy a midfielder, such as Fabinho or Georginio Wijnaldum, in central defence against Brighton & Hove Albion this weekend.

That has reportedly led to a surprise short-term offer for Tarkowski, who has won two England caps and proven himself integral to Burnley's hopes of survival under Sean Dyche.

Liverpool fans, though, are unsure on the potential addition, be it on a permanent basis or a loan deal.
