Virgil van Dijk could have hardly wished for a better season at Liverpool in 2018/19.
Voted as the Player of the Year, playing a huge part in winning the Champions League and falling just short in the Premier League, this Dutch superstar has been through it all and emerged victorious, for the most part.
After Holland’s charge to the final in the Nations League, and despite their eventual defeat to Portugal, van Dijk is still considered as one of the favourites for the Ballon d’Or award in front of the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, the usual suspects.
But the big Dutchman is on his holidays now and while he is not particularly active on social media, he did take to Instagram to showcase his new boots, drawing plenty of attention in the process.
Jordan Henderson was the first one to the scene and he was impressed by the new blades van Dijk will be wearing come next season. He expressed it with a series of emojis.
But he was not the only one as some other players were there to either banter the centre-back a bit or just send their regards. Marten de Roon told his compatriot that he should smile a bit since the Dutchman was looking rather grim in the photo, while other teammates new and old replies with supportive emojis and messages.
