A number of Liverpool fans have reacted with shock at Huddersfield Town's decision to sack manager David Wagner.

The 47-year-old is close friends with Reds boss Jurgen Klopp; Wagner was Klopp's best man at his wedding, and vice-versa.

Klopp, though, has fared better in the Premier League this term; Liverpool remain top of the table, four points clear of second-placed Manchester City.

Huddersfield, meanwhile, are rock bottom, and have won just two games out of 22 this season.

They are currently eight points behind Cardiff City, in 17th, and have acted in a bid to rescue their season.

Wagner has enjoyed fantastic success at Huddersfield, taking the club to the Premier League in 2017, via the play-offs, and then guiding them to safety; the club finished 16th last season.

"We took this club to the highest position it has held in almost 50 years and created memories that will last forever," said chairman Dean Hoyle, per BBC.

"His achievements will rightly put him up there in Huddersfield Town history alongside great names like Herbert Chapman and Mick Buxton; legendary managers who changed the face of this club."

Some Liverpool fans, however, are concerned that Klopp could be derailed by the news, while others have called on the Reds to appoint Wagner as a coach.
