Following the news of Sadio Mane’s new five-year contract, which will take his stay at Anfield to 2023 at least, Jurgen Klopp’s dynamic attacking trio of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and the aforementioned Senegal star are all now tied down to the club for the next five years.
With Liverpool cementing the futures of three of their most important players as they look to wrestle the Premier League title from Manchester City, it should be asked whether or not the Reds have the best striking trident in world football.
Just last season, Mane, Firmino and Salah contributed to a phenomenal 89 goals in all competitions combined, as well as recording a collective 37 assists as the Merseysiders reached the Champions League final.
In securing their stars’ long term future, they will have them on board throughout the peak years of their careers – a truly frightening prospect if truth be told.
Some still aren’t sold on whether or not the prolific trio are the world’s best or not – the Citizens’ hand, containing the likes of Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane are a valiant challenger to that title, whilst Barcelona’s frontline of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele deserves a mention.
