Liverpool had an unlikely hero to thank on Sunday as Divock Origi's late poacher's goal gave the Reds a 1-0 victory over their Stanley Park neighbours Everton, but here at Football FanCast we were perhaps most impressed by a different Liverpool man.

Fabinho, who was signed in the summer from Monaco for £43.7m, has been eased into life at Anfield slowly by Jurgen Klopp. In fact, the 25-year-old has made just 10 appearances in all competitions, but the German boss gave him a start in the Merseyside derby.

The Liverpool midfield was much criticised by their own fans in the 2-1 Champions League loss to Paris Saint-Germain last week, but Fabinho's presence in the derby gave the Reds a protective shield in front of the back four.

The Brazilian reads the game brilliantly, and when he does win the ball he has exceptional quality and almost always finds a forward pass, rather than looking sideways or backwards.

Club captain Jordan Henderson will return from suspension for the trip to Burnley on Wednesday, but it could be bad news for the 28 year-old.

Klopp is a big fan of the skipper, but we think Fabinho has done more than enough to justify another start.

So, Liverpool fans, do you think Fabinho should start at Turf Moor? Have your say by voting in the poll below.
