During the summer, one of the biggest questions surrounding Liverpool was who should partner Virgil van Dijk in defence.

The Dutchman transformed the backline following his move from Southampton in January.

However, at the time, the potential centre-back partners of Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip and Ragnar Klavan were not up to par.

At the start of the season manager Jurgen Klopp threw Joe Gomez into the fray, switching the England international from right-back to the heart of defence.

The 21-year-old slotted in well alongside Van Dijk and so far has impressed for club and country this season.

Interestingly, though, in the last few fixtures Gomez has been one of the players that Klopp has chosen to rotate.

Last weekend, the young defender dropped to the bench to make way for Dejan Lovren, who played well during the Reds' 4-1 victory over Cardiff City.

On Saturday, the Merseyside outfit will come up against Unai Emery's Arsenal at the Emirates.

Should Gomez be reinstalled to the line-up, or will Lovren's experience be more vital against the Gunners?
