Liverpool have had a mixed transfer window so far as they managed to surprise everyone by signing Fabinho from Monaco, but they were dealt a blow when a deal for Lyon’s Nabil Fekir recently collapsed.
There are a handful of areas on the pitch that manager Jurgen Klopp should be looking to strengthen, including bringing in a new goalkeeper.
It seems that plenty of the club’s focus is on recruiting a new attacking midfielder in order to finally replace Philippe Coutinho, who left to join Barcelona in January.
With Fekir now off the table, attention has turned to potential alternatives, and one that has emerged is Borussia Dortmund’s Mario Gotze, who played under Klopp during his first spell at the Westfalenstadion.

While speaking in DAZN documentary ‘Being Mario Gotze’ – as reported by Goal.com – the 26-year-old admitted that he was “interested” in working with Klopp again.
It is easy to jump to conclusions by thinking that the midfielder, who has won five league titles in his career, is angling for a move to Anfield, but it does start the conversation.
Gotze has struggled with fitness issues in recent seasons, but he is an experienced winner with a World Cup trophy under his belt, so should he be considered by Liverpool?
