HYS: Should Liverpool sign World Cup winner Benjamin Pavard?

With Joe Gomez, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joel Matip all struggling with injuries at the moment, Liverpool are somewhat in the midst of a fitness crisis in defence. Forgotten man Nathaniel Clyne had to be drafted in to start the recent win at home against Manchester United, whilst James Milner was deployed at right-back before that game.

Even when the aforementioned trio return from injury, Matip is perhaps not good enough to play for the Reds and perform to the level needed to compete seriously on four fronts, most importantly the Premier League and the Champions League.

One man who is of world-class quality and is also versatile is France and Stuttgart defender Benjamin Pavard. The 22-year-old can play competently at both right-back and centre-back, which would give Jurgen Klopp an excellent asset should a problem like he has now ever arise again.
