Liverpool’s Marko Grujic has been linked with lots of clubs already this summer, but is Jürgen Klopp making a huge mistake by loaning him out?

According to The Evening Standard, Liverpool’s Grujic is considering his options about potential loan moves, having rejected both Cardiff City and Middlesbrough.

The tough tackling youngster will reportedly be allowed to leave Anfield on a temporary basis, but the Reds are keen to give him a contract extension before any such departure.

However, if Grujic is good enough to earn a new contract, then surely he is good enough to get some first team minutes this season?

The £5m signing is 22, has eight Serbia caps already, and if he isn’t ready for Premier League football now then when will he be ready?

Klopp also needs to consider the depth in his midfield, as the breakdown in the deal for Nabil Fekir has left him one midfielder short.

The Reds have added Naby Keita and Fabinho this year, but lost Philippe Coutinho and Emre Can, so with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain expected to miss the entire season they are actually one midfielder down from last season.

Klopp’s high-octane pressing requires good depth, especially if they are going to compete with the incredible Manchester City squad. Loaning Grujic out feels very short-sighted from the boss.
