Jurgen Klopp has been dealt a massive blow yet again, with Trent Alexander-Arnold now set for a spell on the sidelines alongside Dejan Lovren and Joe Gomez.

The 20-year-old featured for the full 90 minutes last weekend against Brighton and Hove Albion, but had pulled up during the warm-up and later scans revealed a minor ligament issue that will keep the right-back out of action for close to four weeks.

Luckily, Klopp has just regained the services of central defender Joel Matip, who returned to full training last week after the Cameroonian missed several weeks following surgery to a fractured collarbone.

FFC's James Jones has identified the one thing that could cost Liverpool the title. Find out what it is in the video below...

In the 27-year-old’s absence, Lovren was handed extra minutes on the field but losing his assistance left the Merseyside outfit forced to deploy Fabinho as a makeshift defender.

Thankfully Matip is expected to be available for Saturday’s clash with Crystal Palace, which will offer Klopp the possibility of moving his £36million-rated defensive mid to right-back in order to cover for the loss of Alexander-Arnold.

The 6-cap Brazil international fared well as a centre-half against Brighton, as he won all of his aerial duels, 50% of his tackles and made five clearances.

The only other options for the German manager would be to start academy midfielder Rafael Camacho as a makeshift full-back, hand Corey Whelan a sudden call-up having just returned from a loan spell with Crewe Alexandra or field the versatile journeyman James Milner there for a third time this season.
