According to reports in The Sun on Sunday, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has decided Daniel Sturridge can leave the club on loan during the January transfer window, but whoever gets him must cover his £125,000-a-week wages.

What's the word, then?

Well, The Sun on Sunday says that Klopp is planning for the second-half of the season without the striker, who is keen to leave Anfield in order to play regularly before the 2018 World Cup.

The Sun on Sunday says that while the 28-year-old was a regular under Klopp's predecessor Brendan Rodgers, he has largely been out of favour under the German with Roberto Firmino often preferred in a false nine role.

The report adds that a loan move looks likely, with Liverpool looking for whoever takes the centre-forward to cover his £125,000-a-week wages.

How has Sturridge done this season?

He has struggled for first-team minutes with the likes of Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane being so impressive, and he has been restricted to 14 appearances in all competitions prior to the visit to Bournemouth on Sunday.

The England international has scored three goals and provided a further three assists in those outings, but he has only started on five occasions in the Premier League and all of his Champions League appearances have come from the substitutes' bench.

Would Liverpool be right to let him go in January?

It's difficult to say.

While the Reds probably should keep him as back-up, if the player isn't happy and is desperate to reclaim his spot in the England squad before the World Cup in Russia next summer then letting him leave on loan could be the best move for both parties.

If Klopp can offload Sturridge for the second-half of the campaign and lose his wages too, then he may be able to bring in another attacker to cover the likes of Mane and Salah if and when they are unavailable.
