In numbers: Can’s fine performance v Watford

Liverpool were on fire yesterday as they thrashed a sorry Watford side 6-1 to move top of the Premier League table, maintaining their unbeaten run along the way.

The Reds are now unbeaten in 12 matches across all competitions since a surprise defeat against Burnley in the second-week of the season, whilst their form in front of goal has been remarkable as they now boast ten goals in their last two league matches.

In a superb team performance for the Reds many players stood out, but Emre Can’s display has shown just how well the 22-year-old has progressed in the last year under Jurgen Klopp’s guidance, with the German now being a key player.

80% passing accuracy is something that can be improved upon but Can will be pleased to have found the net, whilst he also laid on one key pass for a team-mate from his deep role in the Liverpool midfield.

With three successful tackles and one clearance, Can’s defensive involvement was also superb and he’s shown the ability to quickly turn defence into attack, which will be crucial for Liverpool going forward.

Can also confirmed he’s in discussions regarding a new deal after the game, which means Liverpool fans can look forward to his performances in the long-term.
