The Athletic journalist James Pearce reserved special praise for Jordan Henderson for his performance in Liverpool's 2-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday.

Goals from Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah saw the Reds pick up all three points in the Premier League clash.

But Pearce took to social media to highlight the performance of Henderson, who played the full 90 minutes in the middle of the park.

According to WhoScored, the club captain boasted a pass success rate of 76%, whilst he made six tackles, completed two successful dribbles and had two shots.

The England international also actually came close to scoring in the second period but was denied by a wonderful save from United goalkeeper David de Gea.

Henderson's display did not grab many headlines in the aftermath of the two-goal success, but Pearce was keen to hail the midfielder's 'absolutely immense' performance against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

The journalist's tweet can be seen below:

A number of Liverpool fans, though, were not pleased with something that head coach Jurgen Klopp did during the clash with United on Sunday afternoon.
