The Athletic journalist James Pearce has lavished praise on Alisson Becker for his performance in Liverpool’s 3-2 win over West Ham United.
Perhaps the Brazilian’s standout moment against the Hammers came in the latter stages when he made an important save to keep out a strike from Jarrod Bowen.
And Pearce took to social media after the Premier League clash at Anfield to insist that there is “no-one better” than the South American.
Whether the journalist means that Alisson is Liverpool’s most important player or indeed the best goalkeeper in world football matters little.
What is for sure is that the 27-year-old has now kept 12 clean sheets in 19 Premier League appearances this season, which is a staggering record.
In all competitions, meanwhile, he has 14 clean sheets in 27 appearances, demonstrating his importance to Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Pearce’s tweet in the aftermath of Liverpool’s 26th Premier League victory of the season is available to view below:
A big bear hug for Alisson from injured skipper Jordan Henderson as he walks off the pitch. Another pivotal contribution from the Brazil No 1. Makes so many big saves. No-one better. #LFC
