Liverpool should seriously consider making a move for Real Madrid star James Rodriguez following the collapse of their Nabil Fekir pursuit.

What’s the word?

Supporters were left stunned when the club’s attempts to sign Fekir from Lyon came to nothing, despite widespread media reports suggesting that a deal was almost completed.

The club are yet to find a permanent replacement for Philippe Coutinho, who left to join Barcelona in January.

Now that Fekir is seemingly off the table, Liverpool need to consider alternatives, and one of those should be James Rodriguez.

The Colombian international joined Bayern Munich last year from Real Madrid on a two-year loan after failing to hold down a regular spot in the first team at the Bernabeu.

Last season, the midfielder scored eight goals and created 14 assists in 39 appearances in all competitions for the German club.

What would Rodriguez provide?

The 26-year-old predominantly plays in a central midfield role, but he can also play out wide, which would be beneficial for Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

Rodriguez has shown during his time at Bayern that he is capable of scoring goals and producing opportunities for others.

With the attack that Liverpool already have, comprising of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, the addition of Rodriguez could make them unstoppable.

With Coutinho gone, the Reds have missed having a reliable set-piece taker, but if the Colombian star arrives at Anfield, he would be able to take that role.
