Karius likely to stay as number one, Liverpool fans reeling

Loris Karius broke down in tears after the final whistle of the Champions League final following his blunder-filled performance for Liverpool.

Many would have been forgiven for thinking that the German’s Anfield career was over.

The shot-stopper made two costly errors, which led to goals, in the Reds’ 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in Kiev.

Pretty much as soon as the match was over, various media outlets began linking Liverpool to numerous top-level goalkeepers.

It seems that those reports will come to nothing amid claims from The Mirror that manager Jurgen Klopp will keep Karius as his first-choice keeper.

The publication claims that the Liverpool boss would rather stand by his current options than spend money on a player who he does not feel fits the calibre.

Alisson, Jan Oblak, Jasper Cillessen, Jack Butland and Thibaut Courtois have all been touted as rumoured targets, but it seems that Liverpool’s XI on the opening day of the Premier League campaign will include Karius.

Some supporters have been venting their fury on Twitter.
