Karius ripped apart by Liverpool fans following pre-season blunder

It could be a long, hard season ahead for Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius after he made another notable mistake in between the sticks.

The German, who is valued at £10.8m by Transfermarkt, received huge criticism for his performance in the Champions League final two months ago.

Two mistakes led to goals as Real Madrid ran out 3-1 winners in Kiev, which led to many fans calling for Karius to be axed from the squad.

Liverpool have been linked to a handful of keepers in this summer’s transfer window, but as of yet, the club have had no luck in finding the ideal candidate.

At the moment, Karius remains number one, but plenty of fans have urged manager Jurgen Klopp to make a change following yet another gaffe in goal.

On Tuesday night, the Reds took part in a pre-season friendly against Tranmere, which ended in a 3-2 win for the Premier League club.

The main talking point after the match, though, was Karius’s howler which led to a goal from Jonny Smith.

Ollie Norburn’s 25-yard free kick was hit straight at the keeper, but he ended up spilling the ball and feeding it to Smith, who slotted home.

On Twitter, hordes of Liverpool fans vented their frustration.
