Consequentially, a host of clubs have been linked with the France U21 ahead of the summer transfer window, with The Guardian mentioning potential interest from Arsenal, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund Chelsea, Manchester City and Leicester City.

The Black-Yellows are believed to be the front runners in the race to sign the prodigious winger-forward, to the extent that Sport Bild recently jumped the gun by claiming he’d already agreed a summer transfer to Westfalenstadion.

But The Guardian claim Liverpool are now in ‘serious contention’ to snap up one of European football’s most in-demand youngsters following a positive phone call from Jurgen Klopp, who impressed Dembele with his long-term plans for the Anfield outfit.

According to the British newspaper, Rennes value their talismanic prodigy at just shy of £28million.
