Klopp continues exciting recuritment as African star completes Liverpool transfer

As confirmed on their official club website, Liverpool have completed the signing of Sadio Mane from Southampton.

During two years on the South Coast, the Senegal international notched up 21 goals in 67 Premier League appearances – bagging hat-tricks against Aston Villa and Manchester City in the process.

Mane came close to leaving St. Mary’s last summer and had been heavily linked with a move away once again this year, in no small part due to his Saints contract entering its final 24 months.

Liverpool have been in talks with Southampton to sign the 24-year-old for some time and it was revealed last week that the Anfield outfit were about to drastically accelerate their interest.

That was followed by reports yesterday claiming the versatile forward had flown to Merseyside to complete a medical ahead of a potential £34million transfer.

Although the fee remains unconfirmed, Liverpool have announced the African attacker’s arrival on their official club website.

Upon signing what has only been described as a ‘long-term contract’, Mane said; “It’s a club that has won a lot of trophies and has a big history. Now I am looking forward to meeting all the staff and my teammates and starting the season.”

The Reds have been one of the Premier League’s busier clubs this summer, already signing Joel Matip and Loris Karius from FC Schalke and Mainz respectively.
