Liverpool icon John Barnes believes that Jurgen Klopp is not like most managers, with his approach and the way he speaks setting him apart.

The German was officially unveiled as Brendan Rodgers’ successor last week following a week of intense speculation after the Northern Irishman was relieved of his duties.

With fan dissent towards the now departed Anfield chief having grown fierce towards the end of his reign, Klopp’s introduction and track record have been welcomed by the vast majority of Kopites, who are eager to see his team in action for the first time at Spurs on Saturday.

The 48-year-old grabbed headlines in his debut press conference at Liverpool by dubbing himself the “normal one” amid Jose Mourinho comparisons, but TitanBet brand ambassador Barnes believes that he’s not like most managers:

“While I was a big fan of Brendan Rodgers, I don’t think they could have got anyone better than Jurgen Klopp,

“His track record speaks for itself. He brings enthusiasm, he wears his heart on his sleeve, he’s very infectious and he understands what he wants.

“I think it’s a good fit for Liverpool.

“He’s not a normal manager, he doesn’t use ‘manager speak’, he talks sense while wearing his heart on his sleeve.”

Although there is excitement, Barnes doesn’t believe Klopp is a “short term fix” for his old side:

“We have to know that it will take time for him to implement his own way of playing and get his own players, so he’s not going to be a short-term fix. But in terms of getting anyone better, I don’t think we could have got anyone better.”
