Alvaro Romero has told The Totally Football Show that he expects Liverpool to "incinerate" Atletico Madrid when the two meet in the next round of the Champions League, but has shared the one way they can beat the Anfield outfit.

What did he say?

The pundit was talking about Atletico's season and where they are at right now. He didn't particularly have much praise for Los Rojiblancos, but it was his comments on the Reds that were eye-catching.

Call yourself a Liverpool expert? How much did each of these big-money January signings cost?

He explained: "I think Atletico will be incinerated by Liverpool. If they are not strong defensively and if they can’t score goals – they only have 22 in the league – how can you harm Liverpool? The only scenario I can think of is a 0-0 draw at the Wanda Metropolitano in the first-leg, then if Atletico scores at Anfield, Liverpool has a problem.”

Big test

It has certainly not been the best campaign for Diego Simeone's men. They are currently fifth in the La Liga table, and are already 10 points off Real Madrid at the very top. The 22 strikes they have managed in the league is particularly disappointing - only five teams have managed less.

However, they have once again been solid defensively - only Real (13) have conceded less than their 14 so far this campaign - and this is still Simeone we are talking about. Under the Argentinian, Atletico have reached two finals and one semi-final, and they were just seconds away from victory in 2013/14 - had it not been for Sergio Ramos' last gasp header for Los Merengues, they would have picked up the trophy.

Their defence can still be relied upon, and a potential new arrival could give them the edge they need up front as well. According to AS, Edinson Cavani's transfer to the Wanda Metropolitano is imminent. The Uruguay international has only played 14 matches for PSG this term - he still has five goals to his name - but he has managed a huge 193 in 298 appearances for the Ligue 1 club overall. Just last year, he scored 18 in 21 league matches - he still knows where the back of the net is.
