Liverpool suffered a bitterly disappointing 1-0 defeat against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

The Reds arrived at the Wanda Metropolitano for the first time since they lifted the most coveted of European trophies last season, but there was to be no further Divock Origi-inspired euphoria in the final minutes of the game as the home side defended resolutely to secure a narrow win.

The home supporters created a simply scintillating atmosphere inside the stadium to see their side over the line, and Diego Simeone, who was visibly orchestrating the home crowd throughout the game, played a key role in that.

In the aftermath of proceedings, Jurgen Klopp was asked if he would do something similar in the 2nd leg in three weeks time, but he suggested the fans won't need any encouragement.

That particular verdict was lauded by plenty of supporters, with one even suggesting it's an intimidating sign for the Spanish outfit.

Meanwhile, this supporter took aim at the Rojiblancos' 49-year-old manager and backed Klopp's claim that he doesn't need to get involved to intensify the atmosphere inside the stadium.

Finally, one fan said the club should be welcoming the club's coach to Anfield, strongly hinting that Simeone's troops should receive treatment akin to that which Manchester City faced when they turned up to play in the Champions League in 2018.
