Liverpool “will” make a summer attempt to lure Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan to Anfield this summer and set up a reunion between the midfielder and manager Jurgen Klopp, according to Artur Petrosyan.
The Germany international was one of the Reds chief’s key players during his spell at the Westfalenstadion, with the pair winning the Bundesliga title and making it all the way to the Champions League Final together following his arrival from Nurnberg in 2011.
Naturally, there have been a series of links between Klopp and Gundogan since the 48-year-old tactician stepped into the dugout on Merseyside, with some reports even suggesting that the tactician has already spoken to the playmaker with a view to a summer move.
And now respected Eastern European reporter Petrosyan has revealed that Liverpool “will” look to move for the 25-year-old at the end of the season, but that they’ll face competition from Juventus and Real Madrid:
He tweeted: “Juventus are now also in for Ilkay Gundogan. Them, Real Madrid and Liverpool will all try to sign him in the summer.”

A move for Gundogan this summer would appear to make sense, with the silky passer’s contract due to enter its final 12 months.
Dortmund may be open to a sale, with the prospect of losing a key player for free in 2017 unlikely to be appealing.
