Brendan Rodgers has responded to Leicester City's transfer rumour with Adam Lallana, saying that it is not something that he needs to talk about right now.

What did he say?

The 31-year-old is out of contract in the summer, and there have been a number of clubs linked with him, including the Foxes.

Can you name the result these iconic Liverpool images belong to? Give it a go now...

During his weekly press conference, Rodgers was asked about the Reds midfielder, and he said: "Adam’s a fantastic player.

"He’s someone I brought into Liverpool and I’ve been aware of his talents since he was a young player at Southampton.

"He’s at the stage where he’s done brilliantly there and I’m sure he’ll be weighing up his options.

"For us, we don’t need to speak about that now. We spoke about it all through January, I don’t need to speak about the summer transfer window now.

"I’d only add that he’s a top-class player."

Special connection

Rodgers, of course, has a special connection with the former Southampton man - he was the boss who took him to Anfield during his time in the north-west. He managed eight goals and five assists in 48 matches under the 47-year-old.

Of course, you would expect the manager to be coy on his side's interest in Lallana - that is the usual way in football nowadays. However, given his experience, it understandable that he would be on their radar. After all, how many Champions League winners are available on a free transfer in this day and age?

Clearly, though, Rodgers is a fan. At his best, Lallana can be a top-class player - he has also earned himself 34 caps for England, after all, with three of those coming on the biggest stage of all, the World Cup. However, has he shown that on a regular basis? The answer would be, probably not. In 175 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool, he has 22 goals and 22 assists. Not bad, but not incredible either. Injuries have played their part, of course - according to Transfermarkt, he has missed 67 games due to such issues. But still, for such glowing reviews, "top-class" is probably a little much.
