Jordan Henderson has not always had it easy from the Liverpool fans.

Indeed, for a long time, it would be fair to say that many believed that he was not good enough to turn out for the Reds, let alone wear the captain's armband.

Things have changed quite drastically, though.

Henderson captained Liverpool to a 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final earlier this month.

It was actually the 6 ft midfielder's 29th birthday on Monday and as expected, Liverpool's official Twitter account was on hand with a special tribute.

And that led to a number of the Merseyside club's fans lavishing praise on the England international, who has never been more popular.

It is incredible how quickly things can change in the world of football but Henderson deserves credit for finally coming of age for the English giants.
