Liverpool ace agrees deal to leave Anfield this summer as clear-out looms

Joao Teixeira has agreed a deal in principle to leave Liverpool and sign for Fiorentina this summer, according to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Portuguese midfielder has been with the Reds since 2012, but has largely failed to make an impact at Anfield.

He has featured a handful of times since the arrival of Jurgen Klopp on Merseyside – mainly in cup competition – and impressed enough to be drafted into the club’s Europa League squad, but his future with the Kop side is unclear given that his contract is set to expire in a few months’ time.

And reports claim that he could well be on his way out of Liverpool, with Fiorentina having agreed a deal in principle to sign him on a free transfer this summer.

It’s understood that La Viola manager, Paulo Sousa, is a big fan of the silky passer and that officials from Florence have travelled to England to force through the deal.

Teixeira, 23, was tipped for a big future at Liverpool upon his arrival from Sporting CP, but a horror leg break while on loan at Brighton in 2015 interrupted his development.

Although talented, the player’s route into the first-team looks to be blocked, with the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana, Roberto Firmino and Jordon Ibe present in Klopp’s ranks.
