Barcelona are planning a £22million bid for Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho, according to the Express.
The Brazil international was believed to be a target for both Real Madrid and Barcelona in the summer, but remained at Anfield after no official approaches were made for his signature.
But following manager Brendan Rodgers’ sacking on Sunday, the Express are now reporting that La Liga giants Barcelona are preparing to reignite their interest with a £22m move the 23-year-old once their transfer embargo ends in January.
Barcelona superstar Neymar recently admitted Coutinho is the only Brazilian that has the style and ability to represent Barcelona.
But Coutinho insisted publicly that he is happy with Liverpool and doesn’t have an eye on a move away.
“I am totally focused on Liverpool,” Coutinho said.
“I heard what Neymar said but I want to do well with Liverpool. I am happy here and I hope this season will go well for us.”
Coutinho signed for Liverpool for £8.5m from Inter Milan in January 2013 and has since made 112 appearances for the Reds, scoring 17 goals.
