Liverpool ace insists he is committed to the club

Liverpool striker Luis SuarezLiverpool forward Luis Suarez has insisted that he is fully committed to the club, despite claiming that he wanted to leave over the summer.

The Uruguayan made his long-awaited return to first-team action last night following a 10-match ban, but was unable to help the Reds avoid Capital One Cup defeat at the hands of Manchester United.

Suarez started the clash alongside Daniel Sturridge, with the pair linking up well on several occasions.

The 26-year-old was widely expected to leave Anfield over the summer, after openly pursuing a move to Real Madrid – and to an extent Arsenal.

But, the Merseyside outfit held firm to keep their talismanic front-man, who has since apologised for his numerous outbursts.

Despite this, it is rumoured that he is still keen to leave in search of Champions League football, with a January exit a possibility.

But, Suarez said after the 1-0 loss that he will continue to work hard to help Liverpool in their quest for a top four finish:

“The result is not good because we lost but the feeling is good because we played very well, we created chances and we missed.” He told the club’s official website.

“I know it was a difficult moment but for myself and for the team it’s very important I’m back because I can help the team and [being] off the pitch I can’t.

“We’ll keep going for the week and for the next game.

“All the time I try my best on the pitch. I’m here to help the team and help Liverpool and I’ll try my best.”

Can Liverpool fans really expect the same Luis Suarez they saw last season?
