Liverpool agree fee for German star as Klopp addresses long running defensive issue

Liverpool have agreed a fee with Cologne for defender Jonas Hector as he gears up for Germany’s Euro 2016 campaign, report This is Anfield.

The Reds are understood to have been given permission to talk to the 26-year old left-back after coming to an agreement with the Bundesliga outfit as manager Jurgen Klopp continues his Anfield revolution.

Having already signed Joel Matip and Loris Karius from the German league, the former Borussia Dortmund coach has been stamping his authority on a squad he inherited from Brendan Rodgers in October 2015.

Able to operate as a solid left-back, the German would go some way in replacing the often criticised Alberto Moreno in that particular berth.

While the Spaniard has his attacking qualities, he was lambasted for his lack of defensive nous in the Europa League final loss to Sevilla earlier this month.

Hector has been noted for his solid outings for Cologne, contributing four assists last year while emerging as one of the most formidable full-backs in Germany.
