According to FCInternews.com, Liverpool are interested in signing Dejan Kulusevski from Atalanta.

What's the story?

The Sweden international is currently on loan with Parma in Serie A, and he has caught the eye of a number of top European clubs. Manchester United are already said to have offered €25m (£21.2m) for his services.

Now, it appears that Juventus and the Reds are also pursuing the 19-year-old. The latter are even said to have had a scout in attendance for Parma's match against AC Milan on Sunday, and they are now "fierce" about capturing his services.

It is believed they want to sign him as soon as possible to avoid the potential fee from sky-rocketing. As it stands, the Italian club are said to be looking for €35m (£29.7m).

Central midfield option

The teenager has impressed so far this campaign. In 14 matches, he has three goals and five assists, picking up an average WhoScored rating of 7.2. It comes as little surprise, therefore, that he is attracting attention across the continent.

Interestingly, he has predominantly played on the right flank so far this campaign. This, of course, is a position Mohamed Salah has nailed down for Jurgen Klopp's team, and the Reds' interest in the likes of Jadon Sancho would indicate that they are looking for a big name there rather than a relative unknown.

However, Kulusevski has spent the best part of his youth career as a central midfielder, and with terrific results. In 62 matches in that position - as per Transfermarkt - he has 31 goals, whilst he has also provided 23 assists as well. In one campaign, he scored 17 goals in 22 matches, illustrating just how dangerous he can be driving forward.

He has also shown his worth defensively this term, even from the right-wing. He has an average of 1.1 tackles per match, as well 0.9 interceptions. The former is the same as Georginio Wijnaldum's contribution, whilst the latter is actually even better. The Netherlands international struggles to get himself regularly on the scoresheet and has failed to pick up a single assist in the Premier League this campaign. Kulusevski, meanwhile, has proved himself to be adept in both departments.

Whilst Wijnaldum has started all 15 matches this term, he has a WhoScored rating of just 6.87. The 29-year-old would unlikely lose his place automatically should the Swede be purchased, but his arrival could put him under intense pressure to keep his place.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are the favourites to sign this sought-after youngster.
