Liverpool battle Juventus and Barcelona in race for Germany star

Jurgen Klopp is set to raid former club Borussia Dortmund for star midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, according to reports in the Metro.

The Reds are apparently keen on landing the German international as he enters the final year of his contract, with both Barcelona and Juventus also thought to be keen.

However, the recent broadcasting deal has swelled the coffers of Premier League sides, and a reunion with Klopp at Anfield could well be on the cards.

The 25-year old played under the Liverpool boss for four years while with Dortmund, winning two Bundesliga titles and reaching the Champions League final.

He was signed from FC Nuremberg in 2011 and has since gone on to establish himself as one of the top midfielders in the world due to his exploits with the giants.

After recovering from a serious back injury, which forced him out of action for a year, Gundogan is back playing at a very high level.

With Steven Gerrard recently departed, the Reds could be after star names to pack out their engine room.
