Liverpool boss determined to bring in out-of-favour Chelsea shot-stopper

Liverpool are believed to be interested in securing a loan deal for Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech, according to The Sun newspaper.

The long-serving Blues shot-stopper has been relegated to the bench for most of the season following the return of Thibaut Courtois from his three-year loan with Atletico Madrid.

Cech is almost certain to leave Chelsea in the summer, having made no secret of his desire to play regular first-team football as he enteres the final years of his hugely successful career.

While Arsenal and a number of other top European sides are all reportedly chasing the Czech shot-stopper’s signature, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is determined to lock in a loan deal for the 32-year-old which will involve the Reds paying Chelsea £1 million while also covering all of Cech’s £125,000-a-week wage bill.

Liverpool’s current No.1 is Belgian Simon Mignolet, but after some unconvincing performances between the sticks earlier on in the season, Rodgers may now be looking for a replacement for next season.
