Liverpool Brendan Rodgers is eyeing a sensation triple move to add Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke, Danny Ings of Burnley and highly-rated PSV Eindhoven ace Memphis Depay to his ranks in a bid to boost his team’s goal output, according to The Telegraph.
From the dizzying highs of 101 Premier League goals last term with Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge leading the line, the Reds have stuttered in the final third this term, notching just 47.
The Uruguayan’s exit and the Englishman’s injury issues have been factors, but with Raheem Sterling their top league scorer with a tally of only seven the major problem facing Rodgers is clear.
And the Northern Irishman is eager to lure Benteke, Depay and Ings in to solve his woes after being bullish surrounding the Merseysiders’ ability to attract top names regardless of their Champions League qualification hopes.
Depay is thought to be the top targets following ‘secret talks’ with the player, but Manchester United’s interest is an issue.
The Dutchman has notched 21 Eredvisie goals, helping PSV to claim the title.
Benteke is also on his radar, with the Belgian having undergone a goalscoring revival under new boss Tim Sherwood.
And Ings is the final target as his contract at Burnley ticks ever closet to its summer expiry.
The trio have notched a combined 40 league goals in their respective divisions, just seven short of the Reds’ total haul.
