Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has played down speculation that the club are close to agreeing deals for Valencia and Atletico Madrid duo Aly Cissokho and Diego Costa.
The Reds have been heavily linked with the pair over the course of the last few weeks, with some reports suggesting that both deals were close to completion.
However, Rodgers has cooled talk that the two players could arrive at Anfield in the coming weeks, revealing that links with Cissokho are wide of the mark and that Costa is likely to stay in Madrid:
“There’s nothing on the Cissokho story,” he is quoted by the Daily Mail.
“I believe Costa has signed an extension.
“There’s nothing in terms of players to add.
“We’ve signed players early on and we hope to sign some more before the end of the window. In the meantime, there’s nothing at the minute.”
Liverpool are believed to be in the market for both a left-back and an attacker, with Rodgers thought to unconvinced by Jose Enrique and Luis Suarez’s future remaining unclear.
Kyriakos Papadopoulos is said to be on the club’s radar, but much of their remaining business is dependent on the outcome of the Suarez transfer saga.
