Liverpool boss plotting double move for promising young pair

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is plotting his next set of transfer business with a double move for Championship starlets Joe Gomez and Ben Gibson, according to reports from the Daily Star.

The Reds have already been active in the transfer market since the close of the 2014/15 season, with James Milner, Adam Bogdan and Danny Ings having all been snapped up on free transfers – albeit the latter will command an as of yet unknown compensation fee.

And it seems that Rodgers is not yet done, with Gomez of Charlton and Middlesbrough’s Gibson on his radar.

It’s believed that the Addicks’ 18-year-old centre-back could be a Red by the end of the week, with the Merseysiders very much keen on the Valley starlet.

He may also be joined by Gibson, who shone for Boro last term as they narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League.

The 22-year-old defender is an England U-21 international and could cost as much as £10m.
