Jurgen Klopp is ready to offload as many as six senior Liverpool players before the start of the 2016/17 season, with the likes of Christian Benteke, Lucas Leiva and Mario Balotelli all at risk, according to reports from the Mirror.
The German is currently undergoing his first pre-season with the Merseyside club after being parachuted in to replace Brendan Rodgers back in October.
Although he reached both the League Cup and Europa League finals, Klopp had to deal with a vast array of injuries over the 2015/16 campaign, which led to him using 39 players in total.
And with the club without any form of continental football for next season he’s reportedly ready to get ruthless as he looks to cut the swelling numbers in his squad, which have been boosted by returning loanees.
Benteke, wanted by Crystal Palace, is perhaps the biggest name on the list, with the Belgian only signed for £32.5m last summer.
The striker is joined by Balotelli on the scrapheap, while Lazar Markovic and Lucas, who have attracted interest from Sporting CP and Galatasaray respectively, of late are also surplus to requirements.
Alongside the quartet mentioned, defender Tiago Ilori and reserve goalkeeper Adam Bogdan will be allowed to leave, while a number of the club’s youngsters are attracting loan interest.
