Liverpool boss running out of patience with misfiring striker

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers had to tell Reds striker Mario Balotelli to go to bed just hours before a Champions League tie against Basle in Switzerland earlier this season, according to the Sunday People.

The incident occurred in a hotel and adds to an already lengthy list of shenanigans that the Italy international has got up to during his professional career.

Rodgers is running out of patience with Balotelli – who signed for the Anfield outfit in August from Italian giants AC Milan for £16 million – and there have been rumours of a quickfire sale in the January transfer window as Liverpool look to cut their losses.

The 24 year-old has scored just twice for the Reds since his summer arrival – with none of those coming in the Premier League – and he may struggle to get back into the side if Rickie Lambert continues to enjoy a good run of form.
