Real have seen themselves linked with a move for the Uruguayan for the majority of the summer, but are yet to launch any sort of official bid.
Sources in Spain suggest their first offer will be made in the next few days, with it understood to involved £10million cash and Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain – incedently the man who has been attracting long term interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal.
However, Liverpool are understood to have no interest in a player-plus-cash deal, and insist a deal will only be done once Suarez hands in an official transfer request, and his £40million release clause is activated.
Real are willing to test the waters with the opening bid, while at the same time making a statement towards Arsenal.
The two clubs have been locked in talks over Higuain for the majority of the summer, with the Gunners’ bid for Suarez last week seen as an attempt to force Madrid to lower their price for the Argentine.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is desperate to keep Suarez at Anfield, but is aware that the player’s release clause is likely to be activated before the end of August.
The Spaniards are not ones to be pushed about however, and this offer is set to act as a real kick in the teeth for Arsene Wenger, with potentially both Higuain and Suarez ending up somewhere other than the Emirates.
