Liverpool braced for £26m Juve bid

Liverpool forward Luis Suarez

Juventus are set to revive their efforts to bring Liverpool forward Luis Suarez to the club, according to the Daily Mail.

The Serie A champions were interested in signing Suarez last summer, along with Robin Van Persie, and are in discussions with the Uruguayan’s agent about a possible £26million move to Turin.

Juventus have money to spend after securing a deal for Fernando Llorente to join the club on a free transfer next summer, and will now turn their attention to the Liverpool forward.

Director general Beppe Marotta confirmed at the weekend that Juventus had ended their interest in bringing Zlatan Ibrahimovic back to the club due to concerns over his age and wage demands, and see Suarez has a much more reasonable possibility.

The Uruguayan stopped any approach from Juventus last season by signing a contract extension until 2018, so Liverpool will now need a sizeable offer to let go Brendan Rodgers’ most important player.

At the start of the 2012-13 campaign, Suarez was the 2nd most popular name to have printed on the back of Liverpool shirts, with Gerrard being the only player to be printed on more shirts.

Suarez is top of the Premier League Top Scorers table with 22, three ahead of Robin Van Persie, highlighting the major influence he has had for the Merseyside club. The 26-year-old is likely to feature in Uruguay’s World Cup Qualifiers against Paraguay and Chile in the international break.
