Despite completing a world record £86million move for Gareth Bale, Los Blancos are still interested in signing the Liverpool forward.
The La Liga giants are attempting to offload some fringe players in order to raise funds for a move for Suarez. The Uruguayan had publicly stated his desire to leave Anfield this summer, as Arsenal had 2 bids rejected by the Reds.
Although Suarez now seems content with staying in Merseyside, Madrid are ready to test Liverpool’s hold of the forward with a £45million bid. If the bid is accepted, it could push Madrid’s spending to nearly £200million this summer, after completing deals for Isco, Asier Illarramendi, Daniel Carvajal and Casemeiro.
However, the Spanish side must change the minds of Liverpool owner John Henry and manager Brendan Rodgers, who have both stayed firm on their stance that the Uruguayan is not for sale. And after Suarez apologised to Rodgers and his teammates for his behaviour this summer, it seemed that the striker would indeed be staying at Anfield.
Madrid are hoping this late bid makes the Reds reconsider, in a similar style to when they sold Fernando Torres in 2011. Despite stating the Spaniard was not for sale, Liverpool accepted a £50million offer from Chelsea with just hours left of the transfer window.
Will Liverpool sell Suarez today? How much would Madrid need to bid?
