Liverpool are expected to announce that Simon Mignolet has singed a new contract imminently, according to the Daily Star.
The Belgium international has not enjoyed the best of seasons for the Reds so far, having been been at fault for a number of goals conceded by Jurgen Klopp’s side.
But Klopp has overlooked Mignolet’s indifferent form by offering him an improved £60,000-a-week deal, as per the Daily Star’s report.
Both parties are in advanced talks about the contract, according to the report, and the Reds are expected to announce the news this weekend.
The 27-year-old has two years left to run on his current Anfield contract, but that will be significantly extended with his new contract.
Meanwhile, the Daily Star are also reporting that Liverpool are closing in on the £5.1m signing of Red Star Belgrade midfielder Marko Grujic after extensive talks between the two clubs.
Grujic will return to Red Star on loan until the end of the season before joining up with the Reds next summer.
