Manager Brendan Rodgers has been chasing a new left back for the majority of the summer, and it seems the Brazilian has been narrowed down to first choice.
Moves for Aly Cissokho of Valencia, and Lorenzo Melgarejo of Benfica have been considered, but the Reds are now thought to be ready to make an offer of £5million to Spanish club Granada.
The 27-year-old has been a standout player for the Spanish side over the past couple of seasons, and has revealed he has spoken to the club about the possibility of letting him leave this summer.
“I had a very good offer from Valencia last year and the club decided not to sell me,” he said.
“I simply told the club’s president that if there is another offer this year, that he should let me make my dream of playing for a big European club come true.
“He said yes, that he would help me. And this is what’s going on. If the offers that are coming are good for the club and for me, I think it’s the right moment to sell me.”
The club are thought to be willing to listen to offers in the region of £6million, although Liverpool are yet to launch an official bid as of yet.
