Liverpool closing in on £120,000-per-week defensive solution

Liverpool have offered Dani Alves a contract to join them this summer when his Barcelona deal expires, according to reports from The Metro.

The Brazilian right-back is set to be a free agent in a few months’ time and is able to talk to interested clubs ahead of the looming transfer window.

And with the Reds set to lose Glen Johnson in similar fashion, they have stepped up their interest in Alves.

The former Sevilla man has long been thought of as one of the best players in his position on the planet, and has been a key player for Barca through their era of success.

Man United are also keen on Alves, and have reportedly offered him wages of around £150,000-per-week to choose Old Trafford, which would be a £30,000 raise on his estimated earnings right now.

Barca are thought to be open to keeping their man, but a greater chance of first-team action may lure him to Anfield.
