Liverpool are ready to use Jurgen Klopp’s reputation in the game to land Inter Milan forward Mauro Icardi, report the Daily Star.
The Argentine striker has been linked with the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal in the past, but the Reds are said to fancy their chances now they have installed Klopp at the helm.
The German tactician is hugely respected across the globe for his work at Borussia Dortmund, winning two Bundesliga titles and reaching the Champions League final.
Despite being handed the captaincy at the San Siro at the age of 22, Icardi has struggled to replicate the stunning form he showed last year.
As a result he has been dropped by Roberto Mancini, fuelling speculation that he could leave the Serie A giants for around £35m.
With many other big names in the race to land him, those behind the scenes at Anfield know it won’t be an easy deal to pull off.
However, they are thought to be encouraged by the fact they are now coached by one of the most respected managers in the game.
