Liverpool have confirmed on their official website that defender Jon Flanagan has joined Premier League new boys Burnley on a 12-month loan deal.
The homegrown right-back was being tipped for great things after breaking into the Reds’ first team back in 2010 and starring as the Anfield club fought to within touching distance of winning the title in 2013-14.
However, Flanagan has suffered a number of serious injuries that have prevented him playing a role under Jurgen Klopp in recent times.
A total of only 40 games in six years is a disappointing return for the committed right-back, who will look to stay fit and get regular Premier League action again on Turf Moor.
Sean Dyche has brought the Lancashire outfit back to the big time after winning the Championship last season and will hope that Flanagan can play a role in the newly promoted side staying in the Premier League in 2016-17 at the first time of asking.
