The 25-year-old has made an excellent start to life in the top tier, netting seven goals in 12 outings.
The Super Hoops are understood to be looking to tie their man down to a new deal, but the club are not rushing the player, which has alerted the Reds.
Austin currently has more goals to his name than the Reds’ entire strike force put together, with Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert having struggled since their summer moves, while Daniel Sturridge has been injured since the end of August.
Although not of the calibre of some targets on the Anfield giants’ radar, Austin is likely to present value for money and has shown that he’s adapted to Premier League football.
Spurs are also keen, but QPR could yet secure a £60,000-per-week deal with their man.
Austin has had an interesting career so far, rising from non-league football with the likes of Poole Town to top-level action via spells with Swindon and Burnley.
