Liverpool could get ex-Man United star in swap deal

Inter Milan are ready to send former Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic to Liverpool as part of a deal for Lucas Leiva, according to reports from The Metro.

The Serie A giants are understood to be geared up for a busy January of transfer deals, and want to follow up a move for Arsenal’s Lukas Podolski with a swoop for the Reds’ Brazilian midfielder.

While Lucas has been back in Brendan Rodgers’ XI of late, it’s rumoured that a deal for him to leave Anfield this month could go through, and Inter are keen to offer Liverpool a replacement player to sweeten the deal.

Vidic is a name they’re keen to send to England, with the Serbian’s move from United having been a disaster.

The veteran centre-back is already on the transfer list, and has been linked with a free transfer back to Old Trafford.

A more realistic swap may be Fredy Guarin, with the Colombian a ‘like for like’ alternative.

Liverpool want a respectable fee for Lucas, but the Milan giants are keen to negotiate a bargain through a player swap.
