Hakim Ziyech's agent Rene van der Gijp has suggested to Voetbal Primeur that he would be open to the Ajax midfielder signing for Liverpool.

What's the word?

The 25-year-old has been impressing this season as he has scored four goals and created three assists in eight appearances in the Eredivisie.

The Moroccan's positive performances have sparked rumours of a possible move in the January transfer window.

Serie A giants Roma have been linked, but Voetbal Primeur quotes Ziyech's agent as saying that he hopes "that there will be a better club than Roma - an Arsenal or Liverpool".

It could very well be a case of the player's representation attempting to start a bidding war for the midfielder, who is valued at £27m by Transfermarkt.

Should Liverpool pursue?

If Jurgen Klopp decides to make a move then it appears that the Reds would be in a strong position given Van der Gijp's comments.

However, the midfielder's contract does not expire until 2021, which suggests that the club would have to pay a hefty fee to get a deal over the line.

Liverpool have a handful of midfielders at their disposal, but at the moment, they are lacking a creative spark in the middle of the pitch.

Ziyech possesses the attacking qualities that would suit's Klopp's style and he is versatile in terms of positioning.

It is definitely one to keep an eye on, but they should not pay over the odds.
